We’re Hiring a Communications Manager

TRUEdotDESIGN is looking for a vibrant Communications Manager to help bring our clients’ communications and social game to the next level.

Location: Ottawa (in-office)
Position Type: Full-Time

As a Communications Manager, you live and breathe developing strategic, creative and impactful content. You truly understand the agency world and will hit the ground running with your expertise in developing and executing communication strategies, including content curation for various traditional and digital channels and social media management for a broad range of client industries. Bonus points: you are also an expert in planning and managing events!

Reporting to the Director of Communications and as a comms team member, you are responsible for delivering on our communication promises – all of them. You are viewed by clients and peers as a trusted, responsive, and reliable resource confidently able to answer analytical and technical-related questions.

At TRUEdotDESIGN, the Communications Manager role is focused on a variety of tasks, including:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications and social media strategies for your clients
  • Create engaging copy for multiple channels, including websites, blogs, social media platforms, digital ads, campaign landing pages, award submissions, media releases, materials, etc. (SEO optimized copy where applicable)
  • Create client-tailored social media editorial calendars and tools, including hashtag map, mention map, etc., to reach target audiences
  • Support digital campaigns development and execution
  • Manage social media accounts and day-to-day engagement, including:
    • Optimize social channels
    • Curate and manage all content, including account profiles, posts, reels, videos, promoted posts and social ads (images, video, and copy)
    • Collaborate with designers for branded graphics and Canva templates
    • Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “social” and business-minded way to support client’s business objectives
    • Engage on behalf of clients to grow audiences through outreach efforts and to open streams for cross-promotions
    • Manage efforts in building online reviews and reputation: monitor and respond to online reviews
  • Utilize analytical tools and data to measure performance, extract insights, and optimize strategies for maximum impact
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, or campaign-specific reports to showcase results, highlights, and recommendations, present to the client team
  • Generate creative and innovative communication ideas to enhance brand visibility and engagement for clients
  • Plan or support the planning and coordination of small to large-scale events (event themes, moodboards, schedule management, vendor management & coordination, on-site coordination, etc.)
  • Conduct research as needed
  • Conduct social media tools training as needed (internally and for clients)
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging communication and marketing tactics
  • Track and manage project timelines, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Ensure quality assurance of all project elements
  • Project-related communications and scheduling – internally and with the client
  • Other client-related or administrative duties as required

To be considered for this position, you’ve got to have some (or all) of these skills and qualities:

  • Post-Secondary education in Communications and Social Media Marketing (or related field) and/or an interesting combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a communications and social media position at an agency or similar multiple-client-facing, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment
  • Outstanding writing skills with the ability to understand brand voice and tone for a range of clients and write content for various channels
  • Excels at curating and generating new content regularly
  • In-depth knowledge of digital platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn (In-depth knowledge of Google platforms is considered a plus)
  • In-depth knowledge of social media advertising strategy and implementation
  • Relevant valid certifications are a plus (e.g. Facebook Blueprint)
  • Event planning experience is a plus
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks assigned, effectively problem-solve, and stay on budget
  • Demonstrates high responsiveness to all team members, clients, suppliers and partners
  • Demonstrates ability to handle multiple, simultaneous priorities while delivering ongoing accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks performed
  • Projects a professional image through written communications and in-person when participating in meetings, presentations, events, etc.
  • Experience developing and presenting social media reporting and recommendations
  • A desire to stay current on social media trends, tools, and tactics
  • Confidence to take initiative and feedback from the Director of Communications, Director of Design and Account Directors
  • Ability to think outward and seek future trends, sustainable solutions, and opportunities
  • Proactively learning and improving skills to remain highly effective in the role
  • A portfolio containing only your most impressive original social campaign work
