Supporting Local Businesses
During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As we navigate these uncertain times, it is absolutely crucial that we continue to support local businesses in any way we can. Yes, this poses some challenges as we continue to practice social distancing in order to flatten the curve. There are, however, a number of ways we can take action to provide local businesses with support during these trying times. If there’s one thing this virus has taught us, it’s that we are all in this together!

Leverage the Power of Social Media

Engagement = Exposure. Engage with local businesses’ social media pages by liking, commenting, sharing, saving, and tagging a friend in the comments. The more engagement on their posts, the more people who will see them on their feed and gain awareness about this local business!

Write an Authentic Online Review

Now is the perfect time to leave in-depth online reviews to highlight what makes your favourite local businesses special. Highlight not only products and services, but also customer service, and employees who go the extra mile.

Purchase a Gift Certificate

A great way to support local businesses it to buy gift certificate to your favourite restaurant, hair or nail salon, or any service provider you regularly use. Save it for your next visit, or gift one to a friend or family member! If you have a monthly membership to a gym or yoga facility, etc., consider continuing your payments (if possible) to help them stay the course.

Shop Online

With stores around the globe having to close their doors, many are now relying on online stores in order to continue commerce. If you can, support local businesses by shopping their online stores. Not only is this convenient for shoppers, this facilitates businesses being able to continue operating despite having to close their doors!

Treat Yourself to Take-Out

Take advantage of delivery and curb-side pick up, courtesy of your favourite local restaurants! Many have shown up on food delivery apps and have implemented savings on meals for you and your loved ones. Treat yourself to a delicious meal and enjoy safely from your home. P.S. don’t forget to share and tag them on social media!

We hope you found these tips helpful! It is important to remember that one person, taking one action, can and does make a difference. When we all have this mentality, we have the ability to make a huge impact. So, let’s all make an effort to support the local businesses we love to make sure they are able to re-open their doors once we make it through this. #SUPPORTLOCAL
